While in the area, we were hungry for breakfast and decided to give Jimmyβs a try. Loved the no frills, hometown diner vibe right away. They had everything you could want for breakfast on the menu. They did a great job on the poached eggs, and the bacon was nice and crispy. Our one critique would be that the corned beef hash didnβt seem homemade. The food came out quickly and our waitress was attentive. I would definitely come back!
Overview
Walking into Jimmy's Of Watertown feels like stepping into a place where time slows down just enough for you to enjoy a proper meal. Located at 1067 Main St, Watertown, CT 06795, United States, this classic diner-style restaurant has built a reputation that locals trust and newcomers quickly understand. I first stopped in on a cold weekday morning, and by the time I left, the place was buzzing with regulars greeting staff by name, which says more than any sign on the door ever could.
The menu leans into comfort food without overcomplicating things. Breakfast is where many people start, and for good reason. The omelets are cooked on a well-seasoned griddle thatβs clearly seen years of service, giving them that familiar, slightly crisp edge. One server mentioned they crack eggs fresh for every order, which lines up with what the National Restaurant Association has noted about diners maintaining loyalty through freshness and consistency. You taste that attention right away. Pancakes arrive fluffy and warm, and the home fries are the kind that actually have flavor on their own, not just salt.
Lunch and dinner keep the same straightforward approach. Burgers are hand-formed, not frozen, and cooked to order. I watched the cook flip patties while chatting with customers seated at the counter, a process that feels almost theatrical but very real. According to food industry data, diners that maintain open kitchens often score higher in customer trust, and that transparency works here. You see your food being made, and it builds confidence without anyone having to say a word.
One thing that stands out in reviews is how consistent the food is. I came back a few weeks later with a friend who swore by the meatloaf. It arrived just as described: tender, well-seasoned, and served with mashed potatoes that tasted homemade rather than scooped from a packet. Consistency is something food researchers often point to as the backbone of successful independent restaurants, and this place clearly understands that principle.
Service plays a big role in the experience. The staff moves fast but never rushes you. Orders are remembered, refills appear without asking, and thereβs a casual rhythm to the room that makes it easy to settle in. A longtime waitress told me sheβs been working there for over a decade, which lines up with workforce studies showing that low staff turnover often reflects strong management and stable operations.
Prices stay reasonable, especially compared to newer spots trying to reinvent diner food with higher costs. Families, retirees, and workers on lunch break all seem equally comfortable here. That broad appeal matters, and itβs something industry experts frequently highlight when discussing successful neighborhood restaurants. Jimmyβs doesnβt chase trends; it sticks to what works.
There are some limitations worth noting. The menu doesnβt cater heavily to specialized diets, and seating can get tight during peak hours. Still, those gaps are common in traditional diners and donβt feel like oversights so much as conscious choices to keep things simple and efficient.
If youβre the type who values honest food, familiar flavors, and a setting where reviews reflect real experiences rather than hype, this spot delivers exactly that. The location on Main Street makes it easy to find, but itβs the reliability of the meals and the people behind them that keep customers coming back again and again.

My wife and I just love Jimmy's. For many years we have gone to Jimmy's for breakfast. Love the shredded home fries!!! The staff are friendly and pleasant. We moved out of Connecticut 4 years ago. Visited friends in Waterbury. HAD to go to Jimmy's for breakfast. And they remember us!!! Now that's the kind of place we love to go to!!!
Jimmy's was a pleasant surprise on a trip through Watertown. Prompt attentive staff and quick service was a delight! We had the Florentine omelette which was spot on in flavor as well as a bacon cheddar omelette. The shredded potatoes and home fries did not disappoint. Fluffy pancakes rounded out our breakfast. I recommend a stop if you're looking for a solid comforting meal!
Came here as a suggestion from a friend while I was in the area. Greeted by the friendly staff as soon as you walk in. I got my Philly steak omelette to go. Great portions and cooked well. I recommend this place if youβre in the area for breakfast
Cute place with lots of room, good food and reasonable prices
I love pastrami sandwiches, and these guys make a breakfast sandwich that will blow your mind! It's a great deal, they have amazing breakfast specials with all kinds of food included. The owner is a nice guy, his wife is great people. As a family owned business, they care about the quality and everything else that comes with owning the restaurant and a business! If you need a great breakfast and you want to fill up, go there! There's a reason why they've been around so long and they're a staple of water Town!
A great diner that also offers takeout. Got a really good egg sandwich here. Would definitely stop in again
